New York, NY May 19, 2022 – The Board of Directors of the German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. New York (GACC NY) today announced that it has unanimously elected Jan Heck as its new Chairman. Heck is CEO & President of Miele USA.
Referencing the GACC NY’s 75th anniversary this year, Heck stated: “I’m committed to supporting this organization in a manner that will ensure its success into the next 75th years. The growth of companies like Miele in the US reinforces the Chamber’s mission of fostering excellent and productive German-American business relations.”
“Jan has been a dedicated member of our Chamber for many years,” said outgoing Chairman Andreas Fibig. “He is a highly respected global corporate leader whose extensive business experience and connections benefit our chamber greatly."
With more than 20 years in the kitchen and bath industry in North America, Jan Heck was named President and CEO of Miele USA, a subsidiary of the world’s largest family-owned premium appliance company, in 2016. He oversees overall operations of the company’s consumer and professional use appliance and floor care products, which includes management of 10 Miele Experience Centers across the US.
He started his career at Bizerba, a weighing and food processing equipment manufacturer, serving in Germany, the U.K. and Canada. After that, he joined Miele in Ontario, where he became president of the Miele Canada subsidiary in 1999.
He has been active in numerous professional organizations and orchestrated a $100 million fundraising campaign as a board member of St. Joseph's Health Centre Foundation in Toronto and was the Vice Chairman of the Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce for many years.
