German American Chamber of Commerce Elects New Board Members

New York, NY May 8, 2017 – The German American Chamber of Commerce (GACC) today announced the election of three new directors to its board.

“We are honored to have such skilled and dedicated professionals joining our board,” said Caroll H. Neubauer, Chairman of the German American Chambers of Commerce. “The wealth of knowledge and years of corporate experience they possess will greatly benefit the GACC’s mission of fostering productive business relations between the U.S. and Germany,” he added.

The three directors for election to the GACC board are the following:

Volker Baer - Chief Executive Officer, Würth Group of North America Since 2003
Mr. Baer has lived in the U.S., where he has held various senior executive positions at the Würth Group, a global market leader in the assembly and fastening trade. Würth currently consists of over 440 companies with more than 70,000 employees in more than 80 countries. Previously, Mr. Baer was the CEO at Fischer Fixings Systems, an international leader in anchoring products. He is a certified Public Accountant, Certified Treasury Professional and Certified Internal Auditor. Mr. Baer is a strong proponent of lifelong learning and continuing education.

Andreas Fibig – Chairman & CEO, International Flavors & Fragrances, Inc.
Mr. Fibig joined the IFF board in 2011 and has been the Chairman since December 2014 and Chief Executive Officer since September 2014. Previously, he served as President and Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals, the pharmaceutical division of Bayer AG. Prior to that, Mr. Fibig held a number of positions at Pfizer, Inc. The positions at pharmaceutical companies provided him with extensive international business, product development and strategic planning experience. Mr. Fibig chairs the Board of Trustees of Max Plank Institute for Infection Biology. He was appointed to the board of Bunge Limited in September 2016 and elected to the Executive Committee of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in October 2016.

Dr. Daniel Mahler – Partner & Head of Americas, A.T. Kearney
Dr. Mahler is a member of A.T. Kearney’s senior leadership team. After launching his career at the German American Chamber of Commerce in New York, he joined A.T. Kearney 18 years ago at the New York City office. His career at A.T. Kearney included key positions at the Berlin and Zurich offices. He headed the firm’s operations in Switzerland before being appointed to lead the Americas division, beginning in January 2013. Dr. Mahler has been at the helm of at least a dozen major global transformation and merger integration programs for multinationals in the automotive, communications/media and consumer & retail industries. He is the firm’s senior advisor to the C-Suite of several Fortune 100 corporations.
