The German American Chambers of Commerce are proud to announce our next exciting transatlantic energy event:

German American Energy Forum 2010
Washington, DC – Newseum

We invite you to join us at this conference on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Throughout the one day event, we will introduce you to many of the key players in the field from both Germany and the US. Our speakers will present to you the latest news from technology, politics and industry. We will encourage you to interact with our experts on topics ranging from infrastructure to sustainability to policy.

We are pleased to welcome our German keynote speaker:

Matthias Kurth
President, German Federal Network Agency

The Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur, BNetzA) is the German regulatory office for electricity, gas, telecommunications, post and railway markets. Mr. Kurth will speak on the activities of the Federal Network Agency to support renewable energy deployment and maintain sustainable energy infrastructure in Germany.

Other organizations invited to speak include the US Department of Energy, Desertec Foundation, Siemens AG, and GE Energy.

Signs that change is needed in the energy industry are all around us and are becoming increasingly recognized by the public. But these changes will require a great international effort. Germany with its decades of experience in the renewable energy sector and the United States with its vast energy market and skilled workforce are ideal partners for meeting these challenges. Our Forum will discuss what has made Germany so successful in renewable energy and how transatlantic cooperation will lead to the growth of this success that will be crucial in the coming years.

The German American Energy Forum will take place at the Newseum on America’s Main Street between the White House and the U.S. Capitol and adjacent to the Smithsonian museums on the National Mall. The Newseum has a reputation for being green. Occupancy sensors for energy systems, computerized light dimming, radiant floor heating and cooling and low-flow water systems are just a few of their many energy saving initiatives.

We thank our supporting organizations, the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and Germany Trade and Invest, as well as the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Washington, the Representative of German Industry and Trade, and the Transatlantic Climate Bridge.
