The US industry is highly competitive and profitable in spite of low demand and gloomy consumer confidence at home. The import of technology is a key factor for US companies’ future growth when it comes to export to promising markets as well as to meet local demand. Imports of technology from Germany are a decisive factor for US manufacturers’ competitiveness. In the first 6 months of 2011, US imports from Germany soared by 25% to the amount of $48 billion, of which 33% accounted for capital equipment like machinery and machinery parts only.

The German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., together with the Bayern LB, the Commerzbank AG, the DZ BANK AG as well as KfW IPEX-Bank will present and discuss Financing Solutions for Imports from Germany including Euler Hermes credit insurance. Banking and industry experts will take a closer look at customized measures to purchase capital equipment against the background of an ever more difficult environment for import credits for US clients.

The conference will feature presentations from leading German institutions with a particular focus on export finance:

Andreas Klasen:
Managing Director, Hermes Cover (ECG), PricewaterhouseCoopers AG WPG

Ms. Edna Schöne-Alaluf:
Head of Division, Berlin Liaison Office, Federal Export Credit Guarantees, Euler Hermes AG
