A Tour of the Brooklyn Brewery

Date: Thursday, August 11th, 2011 at 5:00pm (sharp!)

Location: Brooklyn Brewery, #1 Brewers Row, 79 North 11st Street, Williamsburg/Brooklyn, NY 11211 (between Berry and Wythe Sts)

Feeling a slight summer crave for a chilled lager or a “kühles Blondes” as we say in Germany? We would like to invite you to join us on a tour of the Brooklyn Brewery to find out more about this brew and the brewing facilities.  In the 19th century, Brooklyn, with a growing German population, became one of America’s most important brewing centers.  Let’s explore how much German is in this Brooklyn beer, because it is claimed that the recipe for the Brooklyn Lager was actually developed by a 4th generation German-American who had inherited the brewing recipe from his German grandfather.

Come and venture out of Manhattan for a change to join us for this year’s YEC summer social. The tour of the brewery starts at 5:00pm (sharp!) and will include a guided tasting.

We are fully booked! Please check if there is some last minute spot available with Anne Wittig at awittig(at)gaccny.com.

YEC members: free admission

Non-members and Guests: $10

Directions by subway: Take L-train to Bedford Avenue, (stay at rear of train), walk from North 7th Street to North 11th Street, turn left (towards the water) and walk a block and a half to the brewery.

We look forward to having you there!
