| The GACC helps both American and German companies collect outstanding payments from each other.

The Legal Department of the German American Chamber of Commerce successfully helps German companies collect outstanding payments in the U.S., as well as assisting US companies with claims in Germany. The GACC New York is a company according to American law that is not allowed to practice legal consulting. The efforts thus are aimed solely towards a non-legal settlement of the case. For a charge whose amount depends on the amount of the claim the department sends out warnings, negotiates with the debtor or his attorney over the phone and assists the creditor, if necessary, through a bankruptcy petition. Should a legal assertion of the claim be necessary, the legal department supports the client with finding a German-speaking lawyer who is specialized in the relevant area of law and licensed at the relevant court. In most cases, however, the presence and title of the GACC New York is sufficient to have the debtor to settle the payments. Collection Service - Correspondence with the creditor

- Negotiations with the debtor agreements on installment plans and settlements
- Assistance to the creditor in the case of chapter 7 or chapter 11 procedures (filing of proof of claims, requests at the bankruptcy court for updates on the current development of the case)
