U.S. FDA Agent Service
Under the new anti-bioterrorism regulations of December 12, 2003, companies exporting food for human or animal consumption to the U.S. must register with the "US Food and Drug Administration" (FDA), as well as companies exporting medical devices and drugs.
For purposes of registration, a foreign facility must designate a U.S. agent, who must live or maintain a place of business in the U.S. and be physically present in the U.S.
The German American Chamber of Commerce provides a service for German companies to act as their U.S. agent towards the FDA.
