J-Visa Guidelines

Here you can find all necessary Information and Guidelines on our J-1 Visa Program.

J-1 Visa can be issued to interns, students, recent graduates and young professionals. The GACC New York only provides the J-1 Visa program service for interns. Participants must be registered or recent graduated students (not more than 12 months after graduation). The maximum duration of internships is 12 months.
Participants of our J-1 Visa Program have to fulfill the following requirements:
Students
- Current enrollment at University, “Fachhochschule”, “Berufsakademie” or an accredited post-secondary degree/certificate producing institution
- Minimum of 2 semesters of study
Recent Graduates
- Graduation no more than 12 months prior to exchange visitor program start date
All applicants have to be between 18-35 years old and have a good grasp of t he English language. Furthermore the internship must have a clear relation to the study program or must be highly relevant to the further vocational education of the applicant.
Company Guidelines
- Minimum of 5 full-time employees
- Site visits must be conducted if host companies that have not previously successfully participated in the GACC J-1 visa program under the following conditions:
- If they have fewer than 25 employees or
- less than 3 Million USD annual revenue
- A stipend or other benefits are highly suggested (and required for internship programs lasting longer than 6 months)
- It must be a skilled internship position
The GACC New York is not allowed to support internships in the medical or therapeutic field. Furthermore the GACC New York is not authorized to sponsor teaching interns/trainees.
