| The German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., (GACC) based in New York, established a new California branch in 2004 in order to better represent the US West Coast.

California, one of the world’s Top 10 strongest economies is an innovator in the software and IT industries, and therefore a very important trading partner to Germany. Germany is in turn one of the five most important trading partners to California. The German American Chamber of Commerce, California Branch, acts as a link to German and American companies and organizations and helps promote and assist business in all areas and industries. The focus industries include information technology, biotechnology and renewable energies, specifically in the High Technology Industry of Semiconductors and Nanotechnology. The chamber is also responsible for hosting business and political delegations from Germany to the West Coast in order to introduce German executives and politicians to their U.S. counterparts. The German American Chamber of Commerce, California Branch functions as its own entity in assisting business relations and is responsible for the following western states: Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. The German American Chamber of Commerce, California Branch, is officially part of the German Chamber of Commerce Association (Deutsche Industrie- und Handelskammertag (DIHK)) and shares its office with two additional Federal Trade and Investment Agencies from Germany. The two agencies, the German Office for Foreign Trade (www.bfai.de) and Invest in Germany (www.invest-in-germany.de), are also supported by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Arbeit (BMWA). These three agencies are the official representative of the US West Coast. |
