  • Hailo and Siemens nominated for Investment Award
    (PR Newswire)

    The German subsidiaries Hailo LLC and Siemens Co. were among the finalists of the First Annual New York State Foreign Investment Award. The awards recognize foreign-owned New York firms for their economic, civic and philanthropic contributions to the local community in New York State. The winners were the U.K. based HSBC Bank and Impact Learning and Development Co. as well as Bureau Veritas, headquartered in Paris.

  • Dachser expands network in the U.S.
    (Press Release)

    International logistics service provider Dachser further expands its intercontinental network. Cincinnati is the tenth location for Dachser in the United States. The new branch is located adjacent to the Cincinnati-Northern International Airport. "It is our plan to cover all important air and sea ports in the United States of America with our own branches", says Frank Guenzerodt, President and CEO of Dachser in the U.S.

  • Koch Media opens North American subsidiary
    (IGN Entertainment)

    A wholly-owned subsidiary of Koch Media of Germany and Deep Silver, Inc., a publisher of interactive entertainment software for PC and consoles announced the opening of their office in the Los Angeles metro area. The office will serve as headquarters for U.S. sales and marketing activities, as well as North American developer relations.

  • RWE to sell 36 Percent of American Water
    (Bloomberg)

    RWE AG, Germany's second-largest utility, said it will sell 36 percent of its U.S. unit, American Water Works Co., resulting in a maximum 600 million euro ($958 million) charge that will cause 2008 profit to be slightly below last year's level.

  • German and American velodrome makers form joint venture
    (Velonews.com)

    World class velodrome designer Dale Hughes and world class velodrome builder Walter von Luetcken will combine their expertise in a joint venture to design and build the highest quality velodromes on the planet. The newly formed WorldRecord Tracks, Inc. with offices in the Germany and the U.S. will "offer the most advanced design process with the most experienced craftsmen in the world," said Hughes.

  • Siemens Energy won two big U.S. orders
    (United Press International)

    Germany-based Siemens Energy got two big contracts in the U.S. The major turbine producer announced it would provide 130 wind turbines to Washington state, providing about 300 megawatts for about $1.1 billion, and also won an order for a U.S. wind farm with a capacity of nearly 325 megawatts. Siemens will supply 141 units of its 2.3-megawatt turbines for the Biglow Canyon Wind Farm Phases 2 and 3 in Sherman County, Oregon.

  • Selzer plans Alabama factory for $22 million
    (Automotive News Europe)

    German precision engineering company Selzer Fertigungstechnik & Co. KG said that it plans to invest $22 million in a new factory in Auburn, AL. The factory, Selzer's first in North America, will machine and assemble metal components for Getrag AG.

  • Company to bring North American HQ to Indiana
    (Inside Indiana Business)

    Heraeus Kulzer, Inc., a global manufacturer and distributor of dental products, announced it will relocate its North American headquarters from Armonk, NY to South Bend, IN. The
    German manufacturer and distributor of dental products plans to create 45 new jobs by 2012.

  • Germany falls behind U.S. as biggest market for wind generators
    (Bloomberg)

    Germany ceded its rank as the world's biggest market for new wind turbines to the U.S. last year as costlier raw materials and lower subsidies crimped demand. Germany, Europe's biggest power market, installed 1.7 gigawatts of wind-energy capacity in 2007, falling into fifth place behind China, India, Spain and the U.S., said Hermann Albers, president of the German Wind Energy Association. The U.S. installed turbines capable of generating 5.2 megawatts, Albers said at a press conference in Hanover.

The manufacturing center for the world's newest breakthrough in microscope technology will be located in Peabody, MA. The so called Nano Solutions Center includes a comprehensive applications laboratory and demo center for the complete range of Carl Zeiss SMT instruments.

  • Germany's BaFin to work with U.S. on bond insurers

    German financial regulator BaFin plans to sign a cooperation deal with the insurance regulator in the state of New York to obtain more information about the risks of bond insurers.

  • $10 million in tax-free loans to German company
    (Associated Press)

    Lebanon County has issued $10 million in tax-free loans to the German company BSW GmbH that wants to make rubber flooring products in the Lebanon Valley Business Park. BSW GmbH's American subsidiary, Regupol America LLC, plans to use the money to buy 14 acres of land, floor space in two existing buildings and equipment.

  • Congatec AG expands to address U.S. market

    Congatec AG, a leading innovator in embedded computing, said that it has incorporated a U.S. entity, congatec Inc., and will begin looking for a location for a California-based office immediately. The office will initially employ about 10 congatec employees headed by Ron Mazza.
